restoring a 1967-1968 mustang?

Can some one break it down on how much it would cost to restore a 1967-1968 mustang. I don't need exact prices just ballpark. Stuff like cost for instating engine, all the wiring, interior, exhaust, etc.

The best thing to do is to buy one that's finished. This way you'll take advantage of the huge loss the seller is taking.

If you still insist on restoring one, it'll all depend on:

The condition of the car you're starting with.

How original you make it, NOS stuff will cost an arm and a leg.

    How perfect you want it.

How much labor you do yourself.

What tools you have access to.

    Too many variables.

Even the cost of installing an engine, You could get a used engine for $100 and install it yourself or you could buy a complete crate motor and have someone install it for $6000.00

This is one of the best Mustang forums. I suggest you read this topic on how much these people have spent on their 67-68 mustang coupes. http://forums.vintage-mustang.com/showtopic.php?ti...

Ballpark would be between $5000 and $50,000. I say that because it depends on the model, options and level of restoration. If you are going to customize it rather than restore it, it could run more. I suggest you get a few parts catalogs and they can give you an idea what you will be spending for materials.

It all depends on the condition of the car to begin with and how extensive a restoration you have in mind. $5000 to $50,000 is pretty accurate.

BTW, Helmut. A good restorer doesn't take a loss.

your not going to get much for $5000, for parts and labor figure $20,000 to $50,000..probably the higher..
