The 390 GT was originally built for the '66-67 Fairlane GT, I had two, long ago.
The GT heads were very similar if not the same as the "low-riser" 427 heads with two extra bolt holes per cylinder for the exhaust manifold.
If I remember correctly, the 4V and 2V heads were the same.
The GT block was the same but the 390 HP (different yet) had mechanical lifters and NO oil passages for the lifters.
The GT pistons were slightly higher compression than the 4V which were slightly higher compression than the 2V.
The cams of each were also different.
The cranks were the same. If you wanted steel, you had to drop the stroke to the 427's and use longer rods, or use the 391 truck crank which requires special machining, I have done both.
The manifolds and carbs were, of course, different.
I don't remember the rods being different just the rod bolts.

Some 390 4 bbl Fords were hi-compression and some were low - compression. You can't tell with out taking the engine apart. There were also several different camshafts used. ALL 351 Cleveland 4V heads have 2 valves as do the 427 SOHC engines....
