Has anyone read The Shack?
I just finished it. It was enlightening as well as questionable... I wonder how other people, Christians and non-Christians felt about the book.
I personally liked the book. It emphesized on thing that we had hard time understanding such as Trinity, the evil in this world and God's involvement in it and all the creative aspect of this fiction. The book was meant as an allegory like The Great Divorse by C. S. Lewis.
I wasn't very happy with his handling of justice and righteousness (or lack their of). But over all effect of the book, if you have a firm foundation in your faith and theology, you could discern thing that need not to be taken seriously or lacking in the book.

I read it. I thought it was great. I don't understand how so many people are pissed off about this book. It's not the Bible. It's an opinion. The author wrote it for his family. He never meant for it to be published.

I am Christian, and I have read it.
I thought it was a very good book. I was impressed with its treatment of the difficult subject of the Trinity. This is such a difficult idea for people to grasp, and "The Shack" certainly doesn't exhaust it; I have to assume that no mere human representation of God can be fully adequate, but it can be helpful.
I also appreciated the treatment of evil, good, and forgiveness. I was afraid it would come out shallow, but it didn't. That's partly because, again, it doesn't try to explain the whole mystery, just to illustrate it in an engaging way.
It will bear multiple readings, I'm sure, and I've only read it once. Perhaps on re-reading it I will discover inadequacies and flaws, or greater depth and truth than the first time, maybe both.

I heard just today that a "dual review" (for & against) was published this week where two conservative Bible scholars debate the book's merits. The one against the book is Dr. James DeYoung and the one for it is Dr. Gerry Breshears.
I have yet to read it but if a summary of the book which I read online is true, it pushes a number of concepts which would appear to be in contradiction of Biblical doctrines traditionally held by evangelicals.

I have started reading it. My daughter and her husband both have read it but I have not ask any questions about it since I wanted to read it.
They have just begun discussing "The Shack"
in their Wednesday night Bible class.
I have a friend that owns a book store and she told me to read it that it was very thought provoking. She didn't tell me anything else about it.

As a Christian.... I have heard about this ungodly book which is a slap to God's face and is blasphemy.
Please email me and tell me how you were "enlightened" by it.
The mere fact that one would waste their time reading such garbage is mind boggling.
