How can I find my own cervix?

I am getting an IUD on Tuesday and was told beforehand I need to be able to find my own cervix. I really have no idea what i am feeling for and have partially come to the conclusion that i can't reach. Majorly stressing me out

Update:

Apparently i am supposed to find it so i can check the threads of my IUD every month

That is so weird. I wonder if your healthcare practitioner was joking. I can't find my own cervix.

If you want to try, push your finger as deep as you can and feel for a firm, round protrusion with a little hole in the center. If you find anything that even remotely feels like that at the end of your vagina, it is very likely to be your cervix.

But honestly I wouldn't stress about it. Your doctors will know what they're doing regardless of whether you can find it (it's so weird they even asked you that!). Inserting a speculum makes it super easy for them to visualize it.

It is easiest to find if you either put your legs apart and 'squat' a bit, or put one leg up on the side of the bath or toilet. Make sure your hands are clean and insert one or two fingers. It is a conical shape and you will find it at the top of the vagina. It will take a while for you to figure out how it feels at different times of the months. Make sure you check at the same time each day as there is variation during the day as well.

As a guide line it will feel lower and harder during infertile parts of the cycle, and high (maybe hard to reach) and soft during ovulation. You may be able to feel your cervix being more open during ovulation and during menstruation.

Different times during your cycle your cervix is farther up than other times. Try to find it at different times of the month.
