What are we going to do about it? Like you said, both parties are responsible for the mess. Vote Democrat? They screw us. Vote Republican? They screw us. Vote 3rd party? They can't win (Ross Pero was best chance and only got 17% of the vote). Out of 536 elected representatives in D.C. there are only 2 or 3 that don't belong to the 2 party system. Many people care, but what can we do?

In a way, I think all of this is a good thing. More people are beginning to wake up and realize that both parties are evil, greedy, power hungry monsters that don't give 2 seconds thought about whether you live or die. I think the best thing that can happen to America is for our government to collapse or be scoured from the Earth in a nuclear fireball. It is time to start from scratch, but this time without the two party system that forces us to always choose the lesser of two evils.

"...that whenever ANY form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the RIGHT of the people to alter or abolish it..." - Declaration of Independence.

    Democracies can be tyrannies too.

If you look at who got money from Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, Democrats were the overwhelming majority (with Obama at the #3 position from the top recipients of "campaign financing").

I care about the $750 billion, but that's a done deal thanks to the Fools on the Hill. We can still stop the latest rip-off and we should. It's time to make a stand, not bend over than take it again.

It's not that no one cares "anymore". Apparently most didn't care enough in the first place, simply because at least in the US it's unbelievable the disconnect that exists between the people and their rights. No one really understands that anyone can speak up and be heard. If government repeatedly takes advantage of the people it is simply because they know there'll be only a few dissenting voices; everyone else goes about their routine, come what may!!!!!

Didn't you hear? Apparently the Messiah has come... B. Hussein Obama will save the world and make money grow from trees! That is what I have been told!...

    Yeah...

People don't care, because they figure the US is turning into a nanny state like Canada and England and Australia. We won't have to worry about anything, people assume, because Obama's going to change the entire world, and everyone will all do their fair share, and will share in everything, and will be able to live arm-in-arm in a fairytale land.

750 billion? Who cares! Let's throw 750 trillion! The messiah will fix it.

    What a CROCK.

We are becoming somewhat numb with all the bailout proposals and huge numbers being bantered around. The numbers are being "casually " mentioned in the media like they are no big deal.

Also, I think many of us have given in the the fact that our voices really don't matter. If Big Government wants to do something, they do it. They don't care at all what I think!

The media is having a field day with the Big 3 loan. The wealthy don't like the middle class and the people making minumum wage evidently hate the middle class for having a decent paying job and want to see them laid off, drawing unemployment and driving taxes even higher?

We care. Getting it back would be an exercise in futility. We have to make the best of it, do our best to try changing the system and not take for granted the next in office will follow through with all the promises. Politics will always have it's corruption. It's always been that way and always will be. It's a matter of degree.

  • 1 decade ago

Well, I think your premise is wrong. People certainly do care. But you're also wrong about how this money is being used. No one stole anything. And none of it is coming from "the people". Did you have to write a check or did your taxes go up? And the money will be paid back, so it's not "gone" in the first place.

  • I care. I feel the same way as you do, but what can we do about it, besides getting behind a serious 3rd party next election?

$750 billion? Try 2 Trillion, is more like it...

We should be focusing on how unions are destroying America. Why do inferior American cars cost 30% more to make than their foreign counterparts, even though both are made in the US? This isn't a proposed bailout of the automotive industry, it's a bailout of the unions, who have leached any profitability out of those businesses.
