Quake 3 arena error User Interface ?

so i try to play quake 3 and it starts to load when this message pops up and I dont know what to do if someone knos what should i do i would really apreciate it

"recursive error after: User Interface is version 3, expected 6" thats the message

    Uninstall Quake 3 and then reinstall. It should work then.
