Why is the criticism of the way Obama has handled this corruption of his state so unfocused?
I read an article today that plainly said Republicans are criticizing Obama for the way he has handled this issue. Personally I find this troubling as it really has no basis. Things typically follow a measure of succession. And he, as his past during the campaign has shown, as always taken specific steps at those times.
First day it happened he made a small statement. Second day after gathering certain immediate facts he again issued a statement and press conference. Next day he had yet another conference but also addressed the internal investigation on the entire issue. And yet this is not enough? There is no "openness" of his position?
I can understand that people want answers from him but wouldn't it be prudent on his behalf to get facts first before running off at the mouth about things so there can be no question of it? I mean corruption is bad enough but ignorance is even worse.
Exactly how did he lie first? I am curious? I do not think he made any assumptions or quick judgements the first time he spoke on the issue so exactly how did he all of a sudden lie?
And although the high horse of no corruption is seriously in few places in this country, Obama grew up in the environment and has relatively gotten through it. The governer plainly cursed the Obama administration for not playing ball or whatever it may seem so how exactly did his actions prove false accusations or lies?

I apologize. I thought Obama knew whether or not he talked to the governor. I thouhgt Obama was competent and knew what was going on with his staff. I thought Obama was familiar with the political system of Chicago and was aware of the propensity for corruption. I did not realize that I was expecting to much. I will wait patiently as he tries to come up with a good story. He has always been good at waving his hand like a Jedi and telling people to "Move on. There is nothing to see here."

Because it's unfounded. I don't have a problem as to how he's handled this so far. Considering he's not even the President yet I think he's gone beyond what's required of him. But that's just personal opinion.
The people that are trying to connect the dots to President Elect Obama have questions about his involvement and I respect that... the problem is that 'fact' doesn't seem to come into it at any point. It's just some random, wishful thinking on their part.
I don't think this could have been handled any better. Blagojevich was busted. They gave him a couple days to do the right thing, while everybody INCLUDING Obama was asking for his resignation. The Illinois Attorney General was all over this from the beginning and has since asked for his immediate replacement by the Supreme Court. And Patrick Fitzgerald has said that Obama is not involved.
None of it matters. They want what they want and no amount of facts will snap them out of it. It will always just be Obama getting away with something in their eyes. You think what they did to President Clinton was bad? That was just a warm up. But Bush is a hero?

The criticism is unfocused?
Democrats are criticizing Obama for the way he has handled this issue.
As his past during the campaign has shown, his first step was to get in front of TV cameras and lie.
After conferring with his campaign (yes, he's still in campaign mode) he had yet another conference where he "clarified" he didn't mean exactly what he said the first time.
People want answers from him. It would be prudent on his behalf to defeat his "lie first" reflex.
I might also be helpful for him to get out and meet someone who isn't a career felon or self-declared enemy of America.

Your right on this. He should get the facts. I do think people do want to know earlier because Obama does have a reputation of keeping quiet about everything. Maybe that is good, maybe not.

American politics, these days, makes me just want to close my curtains.

"So we came and conquered and found
Riches of commons and kings
Who strangled and wrestled the ground
But they never put back anything
Now I'm trapped like a dog in a cage
Wherever the truth is pursued
It must be the curse of the age
What's taken is never renewed"
