Does viral replication and viral synthesis mean the same thing?

viral replication is the act of making more virus's from the materials on hand so to speak.

Viral synthesis, is the act of making the diverse materials needed to replicate.

Kind of like cutting the trees to make the lumber to build a house-vs-building the house from the lumber. They are a part of the same process but are very distinct, in the mechanisms involved. hope this helps
