I accidentally over salted my beef stew, what can I do to tone down the salt?

    add some more potatoes, a little water and a dab of sugar. It will kill that salty taste. Just dont over do it on the sugar.

    I've heard that adding a raw potato and cooking it in the oversalted soup can "draw out" some of the salt. But other people say this isn't true, and I've never tried it myself. The only surefire way is to dilute the too-salty stew by adding more of the stew ingredients.

  • I agree with the others, add a pinch of sugar and some raw potatoes and allow them to cook and absorb the salt. Works like a charm!

    stick a couple slices of bread in it then take them out
