I can't burn to a dvd but can to a cd?

Lets see. Did you format the RW DVD discs ?

If they are blank, they have not been formatted and you have to format them first to hold data.

Best DVD RW to use for data and music are the DVD - R, rather than the DVD + R type.

A good DVD RW will also write to CD and with the price of either, you don't need the more expensive RW.
