A be conscious-for-be conscious translation does no longer consistently provide the appropriate meaning by way of fact words are used metaphorically in many languages, and what could be understood in a single language does no longer make experience in yet another language. For basic nouns and maximum verbs, yahoo's babelfish is powerful.

If I must use one (they are generally inaccurate, don't catch idioms, and generally don't use correct conjugations/forms... get a native speaker for a friend - they're better), I use Google Language Tools (http://www.google.com/language_tools). It will do whatever you ask it to, and I have only found one error. It translates words, phrases, sentences, paragraphs, pages, whole papers, you name it.

    Other ones:

    Yahoo! Translator (http://babelfish.yahoo.com/)

    Free Translator (http://www.freetranslation.com/

    translate dot com (http://translate.reference.com/)

Paralink (translation2.paralink.com/) - it has a lot of ads

    Windows Translator (www.windowslivetranslator.com)

    The best one is:

    http://babelfish.yahoo.com/

It translates many languages to many different languages, and it's really accurate. It does words, sentences, and even full web pages.
