Converting a Dodge 2.5L to a V8... need some advice!!?
I have a 1992 Dodge Dakota Sport with a 5 speed tranny. I'm wanting to drop a V8 in. Can I get some advice on what engine to select and if the year of the engine matters? I have found a 1996 318 for a good price. Also, how much trouble is it to go to carb instead of EFI. Thanks

i got a 91 that we did this to and i went back to an older model engine with basic electronic ignition with a 904 automatic transmission its not that hard of a job to do and i also got an edelbrock intake with a 650 edelbrock carb which runs extremely well,i basically got rid of all the computer junk so i could build it the way i wanted to, if you do all this you can get by for about 1200 in parts,if you go with the 96 model engine you have to order a special intake to work on it but it can be done, then go back with basic electronic ignition no computer stuff, this way you can alter the timing and get it to run a lot better, once you get it in and running you can get some good horse power from it,you first have to get the thing in it and get it all wired up and running, and the rest is add on horse power, they make fun project trucks to work on,i got mine just to play with, good luck.
