Your example is a chat violation. Chat is defined in the YA Community Guidelines (link at bottom of every page). There are specific things listed that you may not think are chat, but Yahoo defines it that way and you have to live with it. You should go to the site dizzay.com and see what a YA type site looks like when chat is allowed.

Just stay away from questions that simply ask people's personal opinion or personal information. Those can sometimes be ok, but most of the time they are chat. Stick with questions that only ask for facts, figures, and data like a teacher might ask in school. You can ask for example Paris Hilton's age, but you can't ask what people thought of her dress. You can ask "What is a good SUV for a big family?", but not "What type of SUV do you drive?".

Chatting is asking questions that can only be answered with personal opinion and to which only you and the answerer will give a hoot. You can tell most of these by the presence of pronouns (I,we,you,me,us) or pronoun adjectives (your, mine, ours). If these are present your question will be chat 90% of the time and if you can not rewrite the question without them, it is chat 99% of the time.

People have different takes on violations, but I hope you will reread the community guidelines for other types of questions that are not allowed and specifically spelled out such as Fill in the Blank questions (link at the bottom of the page).

Questions don't have to be rude, offensive or inappropriate to be violations. It can be something as simple as "chatting", which is the most common violation. But no one here can specifically answer exactly why a question was deleted when they don't know what the questions were. Questions and answers get reported by other members. Some slip under the radar and don't get reported, which doesn't mean the aren't violations. They just got lucky and didn't get caught.

I asked the same thing a few days ago because I don't believe any of my questions are offensive or inappropriate compared to most on here. I was told that it is because the questions are considered "chatting" and not "informative". It's unfortunate, but true. The Y!A rules do say that the questions need to be something others can learn and benefit from.

The example you gave, "Do you like someone on YA?" is considered chatting. Chatting is a violation.

The site is intended for the sharing/gaining of general knowledge. General knowledge benefits everyone. Asking if someone is crushing on someone else doesn't benefit anybody it's purely intended to start a conversation.

There are so many more trolls out there, and that is why you see less and less users on here. A troll is someone who asks nonsense questions, answers useless answers, and reports people randomly, just when they feel like it.

It depends whether your question calls out someone by name. if so, it should be reported. if not, it shouldn't

WHAT KINDS OF QUESTIONS ARE YOU ASKING??

I AM TOLD THAT IS HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH TROLLS !!

    JUST JOKING !!

YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL OF THE CONTENT OF YOUR QUESTIONS. IT IS ALSO POSSIBLE THAT SOME OF THE OTHER INAPPROPRIATE QUESTIONS THAT YOU HAVE SEEN, ALSO GET DELETED AT A LATER TIME.....

HOPE YOU FIGURE IT OUT !!
