Why do EPL player contracts use weekly wages while USA contracts use annual wages?
In the USA (MLS and other major sports leagues), player contracts are quoted as annual wages. e.g. David Beckham is paid $5.5 million per year by the LA Galaxy. We always quote baseball and basketball players in annual terms as well.
In EPL and other European leagues, player contracts are usually quoted in weekly wages. e.g. Christiano Ronaldo is paid 120,000 pounds per week.
Why is there a difference? Maybe it's because players can be transferred mid-season. Though I heard people in London pay their rent weekly, not monthly like in the USA.

As you have said, the difference comes down to local preference.
EPL contracts are in annual terms but reported as weekly as is the custom in England because historically weekly was the standard time you are paid.
US I beleive comes down to its common business practices, as most sports teams began as privately owned businesses as opposed to community owned teams it was the norm to report things in common business language, same as executive saleries are reported as annual figures.

yeah in london generally rent is paid weekly.
also, players can only be transferred during the january transfer window (the whole of january) and in the summer when between the season ending and starting.

because MLS is a cheap piece of **** league that should never play the beautiful game because they make it look bad and for some odd reason the say they "cant afford to pay soccer players that much in gay america"
