My Beagle keeps chewing my underwear....she's 1 year old now?

My underwear will be in my drawers and closed and my beagle can open them. It's so annoying because I thought by now she'd be out of her chewing stage.

For a beagle it's not so much about the chewing as it is the smell. They are traditionally bred to have EXTREMELY sensitive noses (10x more than humans and one of the best of all breeds) and will hunt down what they want with that nose until they get because they have the smarts to do it. As gross as it sounds, the clothing you wear closest to your body, especially underwear (clean or not), is strongest with your scent which is what your pup is going for. You could try a higher drawer or get those little baby latches that are made for cabinets & drawers?

Move the underwear to a higher drawer that the dog cant reach . Once you move it put a child proof lock on the drawer .

Your dog is pretty smart to figure out where you keep your underwear, and open the drawer to get at it. Sounds like you should find something else to occupy her time. Try shutting her out of your bedroom during the day or whenever you are not at home.

Dogs don't grow out of things, they need to be taught right from wrong.
