Transferring plants from a vase to dirt?

Id rather buy roses and/or other flowers for a special some one and was thinking about ordering them then putting them in a pot of dirt to last longer. Is this possible and what are the results? HelP appreciated! Thanks

    That's not going to work.

The best way to keep flowers is to cut a piece of stem off under running water at an angle / then when you put them in water... they don't sit flat on the stem stopping water from going up.

Don't leave ANY leaves on under the water line.

Always let flowers adjust to the room temp. before placing them in a vase.

    cut them with shears!

Cut flowers will not survive in dirt. Better yet what about a miniature rose bush already in the pot.
