why dose my back hurt?

today while i was at the library for a teen thing my back started hurting. about the middle of my back on top of the spine. it feels like a bruse but my sister said there was no bruse. i am currently recovering from a cold so i dont know if that would have something to do with it. i also have hammer toe. my doctor said that would start at my feet and get to my back so that could be it but it just got to my hips so i doubt its that. so any ideas on what it could be?

Update:

i am in good shape... i barely have any fat im 15 5'8 and weigh 160 pounds

It could be your posture. Do you sit up straight? I used to get really bad shoulder pain when I was on the computer for a long time or sitting around for a long period of time. I started using the Lombard support in my car and after a few months I noticed my pain pretty much went away. What are you usually doing when it starts hurting?

pile up about 3 pillows on your bed or the floor and lay on them. But when you do you want your hips to be right on the pillow and use only one thin pillow for your head.

Lay at least once a day for about 15-30 minutes. After words before you stand up move the pillows. lay on your stomach, and do kind of a push up motion. but keep your hips on the ground. (like the yoga position) start with your hands kind of far out. push up, take a deep breath in and slowly let it out. then go back on your stomach.

everytime you push up you want to bring your hands closer to you so your bending your back a little bit more.

Laying on the pillows allows your back and your discs to open up. And doing the exercise helps stretch and strengthen your back and loosen it up.

    good luck

Sometimes an old mattress with poor support can cause back issues and discomfort.

You may have pleurisy, which is the bruising of the lungs. It can be caused by coughing.
