How can I improve my photography?
Here's some of my stuff
http://flickr.com/photos/karasphotography/
I'm 14 and have a basic digital camera.
Any tips from other photographers?
thanks for all the compliments. Also, the critism, too. How could I ever improve if all I got was compliments?(:
I greatly appreciate it.

hi Kara,
you picture are good...you used different angels and depth of field.
but all of those pictures are close up pictures.... why don't you try different things too (landscapes, portraits), you are using good angles, so I think you will do great.
finally, keep on, take more pictures and be creative ( you're 14, imagine how you will be after another 5 years )

Ok do not take this the wrong way, your pictures are good and this is just some constructive criticism... I really like the last 4, but the rest not so much sorry!!
The first 4 pictures on your flickr seem to be just shots with bad lighting and no photography technique. .I think that you need to learn about the basics of photography first (exposure, Aperture, Shutter speed, white balance, composition..), don't be offended if you already know this. Check out some books from the library about photography.
As for ways to improve your photograph this is what I suggest.
-Use natural light - take your pictures like on a cloudy day or under a shaded tree. If not use soft light coming from a window.
- Don't use the flash - it washes out your pictures
- Watch your background - Try to have a plan background or use an aperture that blurs the background.
- Try to put the focous on the eyes as much as possible
- Get down to their level, try not to look down at your pets
- Use a tripod
- Use the rule of thirds

Those are actually quite good. Try shooting the same image from different angles and different distances. Also play with light and shadow more, you may have to manipulate the light in the room. And finally experiment with the exposure of your camera, shoot one darker, one at the camera setting and one lighter. Keep up the work though, you have a good eye.

They are good. Just keep practicing try out new angles and different things. Maybe some human portraits and just keep taking pictures! Also don't have a distracting background you didn't have any as far as I saw but that can totally ruin a picture.
Good Luck

I think you are well on your way. You are experimenting with different depths of field and shooting different angles, which is good. Photography is a lifelong learning process. Just shoot as much as you can and you'll do fine.
