What is the sentence for battery and theft?

My ex boyfriend has been done for theft and battery. It is to be heard at a Magistrates Court so I do not imagine that the sentence will be that severe. He has gone not guilty and I have to be there but I am not sure what they can actually sentence him for. I can move my jaw now but I did not ever get the stolen stuff back and I just wondered if he will only get a fine

Update:

Thanks for that as I was a bit worried

A magistrate can only sentence to 6mths imprisonment, battery only carries 6mths or fine or both, the can´t elaborate on the theft as you don´t say what type i.e Burglary, both crimes carry a sentence of imprisonment but if he is found guilty other factors come into play such as mitigation, previous character, pre sentence report this will all play a part on the magistrates decision

    Look in the real world.

According to the weight of the battery being stolen.

Measure by the kilo in weight.

magistrates can only give up to nine months imprison. but if they think it is very severe they can refer it to the crown court.

It depends on previous...........also if he pleads not guilty and is found guilty he will get a heavier sentence.

18 months upwards but like I said it does depend on previous!

Death, usually. Just pray the judge is not feeling lenient on the day.

It should be several years in jail, but nothing serious.
