Do you have a good common recipe for eggnog?
We have tried to make eggnog from scratch.
We wanted it to look, feel, and taste like store bought eggnog.
Some of the recipes we found were too simple and fell short of our expectations.

This is a top-secret recipe. I've had it for over 10 years, and it is better than anything on this earth. Ready?
6 egg yolks, save 3 egg whites
1 cup sugar
1 & 1/2 cup brandy
1/2 cup whiskey
1 cup rum (if you're naughty, use 151 proof rum!)
2 quarts 1/2 and 1/2
1/2 cup powdered sugar
In saucepan, beat egg yolks well, beat in 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in 1 quart 1/2 and 1/2. Be sure that sugar is fully blended into mixture.
Heat mixture over medium heat, stiring constantly until temperature reaches 175 degrees fahrenheit.
Whisk in all remaining liquid ingredients and chill.
Prior to serving, beat egg whites until stiff. Add powdered sugar to egg whites. Fold into chilled eggnog. Sprinkle with nutmeg.
You will love it.
