Who still uses a Coleman fuel catalytic heater for camping?

Does anyone still use a COLEMAN catalytic heater that burns Coleman Liquid fuel (not propane) for camping? Do you use it in a tent? How much ventilation do you provide in the tent? I'm a little worried about Carbon Monoxide if I use it in the tent.

Update:

Liquid Coleman fuel; Heater, not a cooking stove. It has a catalytic dome that glows red and provides heat. I used it in a garage with a carbon monoxide detector and the detector registered zero. I know it uses up oxygen.

Don't use this in a tent unless you have all the vents open to the tent. They are not very efficient heating devices in really cold weather in a tent. I've heard of several people who have died using those type of heaters in tents without adequate ventilation.

What i've done in the past is bought a gas powered generator and i used quartz radiant heaters when i was out camping in the mountains in the snow and sub zero temperatures.

These days i use a battery i removed from a bulldozer and use quartz heaters. Works really good for 2-3 days then i just hook up some cables to my truck battery start up and recharge the large battery for about 30 minutes every 2 or 3 days.

Catalytic Heater doesn't produce CO it will remove O2 But most tents are drafty enough put it in a safe spot so you don't roll over it . Use the Proper fuel . Light it outside the tent they send up allot of flame at first when lit and doing that inside a tent will be a disaster. Once they burn down after lit give it 10 min so the heat will be all clean then bring it in . It will take out the chill.. You can get a Battery operated CO meter if you are worried , but unless your tent is so well sealed its a vacuum you should be OK . This thing will kill you in a car for example, because the seal in a car is too good. Crack the Zipper if you have a real good tent and not an old Canvas Job..

DO Not..Repeat DO NOT ever use Coleman fuel or Ozark Trail camp fuel in ANY Jon-E or similar catalytic hand warmer! They are designed to use ONLY standard petroleum based Lighter Fluid and nothing else.....You need to pay less attention to hydrocarbon emissions, and rust inhibitor's,and concentrate on directions, warnings and safety! I have a personal friend of 25 years, and hunting partner that 6 years ago tried the same stunt. The Jon-E hand warmer literally went off into a ball of flame with Coleman camp fuel (Designed to be used in Camp Stoves only!) resulting in 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his right hand, arm and face. We still hunt together, but he has only 30% use of his right hand and despite 5 plastic surgeries to remove burn scar tissue and skin grafts..he is still scarred both physically and mentally. This is not an isolated incident by any means and many people make this error in judgement and wind up seriously injured or worse....

EDIT: Wait, I thought you were talking about the liquid fuel coleman stoves thingies.

    Ignore what I said.

Bad idea to have open flame (or enclosed open flame) in a tent, especially if you are sleeping and you can knock it over.
