Can water based poly cover over linseed oil?

l have just installed 8" wide southern yellow pine floors in kitchen l want the glow of oil and protection of poly (pets kids) if not linseed what kind of oil can be top coated with water based poly l don't want to use oil based because we are living in a small house and the fumes would be overwhelming

    Honestly, I don't think the two will work together. You can use linseed oil alone, or poly coat the floor. Since oil and water don't mix, you cannot poly over an oil coated floor. And a floor sealed with poly will not let the linseed oil penetrate, causing a slippery mess. I think you need to decide on one or the other.
