I can appreciate how difficult it can be for a parent to teach a child with a different mindset or different ways of thinking and learning. Frustrating as it can be for the parent, it can also be very harmful for the child, who likely feels the parent's frustration and disappointment and is therefore in danger of suffering from diminished self esteem, and possibly shutting down altogether because of it.

You are to be commended for recognizing this danger before it’s too late. And fortunately, there are some EXCELLENT online math and grammar sites for your daughter to explore, have fun with and learn from.

Excellent math sites that kids enjoy are found at:

    http://www.coolmath4kids.com/

    http://www.classzone.com/cz/index.htm

    http://www.learn4good.com/games/kids/double_digits...

A very good grammar site can be found at:

    http://www.theteacherscafe.com/Grammar/Grammar_Gam...

Another site I encourage you to let your daughter go to for BOTH math and grammar is:

    http://www.freerice.com/

FreeRice, in partnership with the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University, is designed to automatically adjust to your daughter’s level. Moreover, each time she gets an answer right, 20 grains of rice are automatically donated to feed the hungry. As she plays these educational games, she can see a rice bowl fill up on account of her correct answers. Kids find it very rewarding in itself, but also especially gratifying in knowing that they are helping to feed the hungry.

When you arrive at FreeRice, you will see vocabulary words, but you can click on “Change Subject” and a list of subjects, including math and grammar, will appear.

It’s important for your daughter to be able to work at her own pace and learn without constantly feeling she is disappointing her mother. These sites make that possible.

Wishing your daughter happy learning, and your family peaceful times.

At their age they all love playing computer games or games on different consoles.

There are good learning games for math and grammar that incorporate them both. This make learning much more fun.
