Does this mean that we are in a Depression, yet?

The Labor Department reported that initial requests for jobless benefits rose to a seasonally adjusted 586,000 in the week ending Dec. 20, from an upwardly revised figure of 556,000 the previous week. That's much more than the 560,000 economists had expected.

That's also the highest level of claims since November 1982, though the work force has grown by about half since then.

I think we are but it is not being mentioned to the public because it would cause a public panic

Just down the road from me yesterday, someone chucked themselves off the cliff into the sea... that's happening more and more... off the roofs of multi-storey car parks...

    So sad!!!!

Such a waste of human life!

YES people are depressed. Listening to politicians is enough to drive folk insane, with all their mind-boggling / complex / poppy-cock, meandering, get-rich-quick schemes.

So take no notice of their election promises, or there forecasts for deep global recession - don't panic, don't subscribe to the belief there is nothing that can be done! They are ill-informed, typically out of tune with the electorate, and behind the times.

Instead, get with "it" cos that's the good news on the horizon...
