DNA Test Profile Index calculations?
I would like to find an online DNA Profile relationship software that can do various relationship index calculations, including avuncular, sibship, parentage, etc. I've seen the bayesian equations they use, which are not so complicated, but the problem comes in with the probability of that length of allelle loci variable which comes from databases of individuals combined into ethnic groups. I've found a few calculators, but all the results of index calculation are different. Is there a free tool out there where you can plug in your results against others profiles and just calcualte various indices using large forensic databases? I feel this should be free in public domain. I found one calculator on a chinese university site, but it looks like thier database is not very robust, also i have no idea what the calculated index/result means.
I paid for one test, now I need to get another profile tested and put into it and I don't want to pay for another full test, just to do this calcuation. Perhaps there is a dna testing company out there that would just run the numbers if i provide the data?
thanks Mk, there should be no problem making the allele frequencies of various populations public, (which is needed in the forumula), because it's just a statistic, no personal data is involved in it. So a common loci, length allele 11, the value is .24 for caucasion, which is needed in the formula to calculate relatedness. The forumula is actually pretty simple and i found a document with them in it, one could program it easy in excel spreadsheet.
hoped for more replies, missed chance to extend expiration...

doubt if u get d free tool to do all these things cuz these r all pretty complex calculations and softwares for such are really expensive......best is to try and get in touch with a univ that does these regularly and request for them to do it for u.....
large forensic databases cant b made public for obvious reasons......and similarly many univs having databases will have limited information....
sorry i cudnt answer....but this ques got me into thinkin how d univs shud create such a database....it'l help research so much....
lemme know if u find such a proj taking off.....maybe v can try and garner support for it ourselves.....
