Where's the best place to hang a borometer?....?

How accurate are these things and does it matter where it is in your home. The one I have is I think of good quality and I've only seen it displayed to me when I had it in my car and have not hung it up in my home yet. The brand name on this is Taylor Made it was my Grandfathers. He always bought the best. Any suggestions please!! P.S.What is this thing displaying and what are we getting out of it! I know it displays the temperature and something to do with the weather. Are they strictly for indoor use only??? Thanks.....

Your barometer is just as accurate a weather forecaster as the TV meteorologist you watch with the news. Under most conditions it forecasts weather for the 12 to 24 hours ahead. Its mission is to measure air or atmospheric pressure and indicate its rising or falling.

A barometer is an instrument used to measure atmospheric pressure. It can measure the pressure exerted by the atmosphere by using water, air, wine, or mercury. Pressure tendency can forecast short term changes in the weather. Numerous measurements of air pressure are used within surface weather analysis to help find surface troughs, high pressure systems, and frontal boundaries.

It should be placed somewhere that it can detect atmospheric pressure, which inside the house may not be a good fit, but there are barometers that are made for indoors. A protected porch might be better, such as one with a screen around it.
