Can you recommend some soothing classical piano compositions?

I'm an absolute newbie to classical music and I love the piano. Would really appreciate it if you could recommend some calming compositions to listen to during study breaks. Thanks :)

One of my favorite modern composers is Ludovico Einaudi. He's often described as a minimalist, as most of his compositions tend toward simply violin or piano. It makes for great study music. It's also very interesting to learn up on if you're new to classical. His music doesn't actually follow some of the main tenets of minimalism, but he still prefers the label as he feels it is an expression of an "open elegence".

If you look on Youtube, you can search a composer's name and then click "Playlist" and it will show you people's playlists of artists with that name or similar. I've included a link to a playlist of several different composers as a sample. I hope this is of some help!

P.S. I might recommend, if you're truly interested in learning about classical music, simply going through a list of composers and reading about a new one every day and listening to a song or two of theirs on youtube. Just google "top 100 composers" and you should get a good list. Good luck!

There are heeaepppsss and heaappssss of classical masterpieces which you can listen to. As quite a Beethoven fan myself, i can list a few of the pieces I am current playing.

    - The Appassionata Sonata - Beethoven

    - The Moonlight Sonata - Beethoven

    - The Pathetique Sonata - Beethoven

    - Italian Concerto - Bach

    - La Galante - Hummel (unsure of the spelling of Hummel)

    - Down Longford Way - Parker

    - Canon in D - Pachelbel

    - Fur Elise - Beethoven

    - Arrival of the Queen of Sheba - Handel

    - Moments Musicaux (musical moments) - Schubert

That should keep you busy for a while, but if you need some more don't hesitate to give me a buzz!

For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/ax1Oa

.. Anything by Yiruma is awesome for calm and relaxation .. .. Try Eric Satie as well, who I was recently introduced to .. .. Also George Winston, his Version of Pachelbels Cannon .. .. A few other pieces I have of his are Walking In The Air, Rain Song, Colours/Dance, Japanese Music Box (relaxing for sure) and Love .. .. Jim Brickman is another one for calming piano .. His piece In A Lovers Eye is nice, and there's another one which I'm unsure of it's name, but which is saved in my Windows Media as Relaxing Piano lol .. .. Beethovens Moonlight Sonata is great as well .. .. Carter Burwell has a few good ones .. .. Johann Sebastian Bach has many good pieces, though of his pieces I have mostly Violin compositions .. .. Chopin is also good :) ..

Clair de Lune, written by Claude Debussy

This is my favorite classical song ever. I'm learning to play it now.

Moonlight Sonata, written by Ludwig van Beethoven

Canon in D, written by Johann Pachelbel

Romance in F Sharp, Op. 28 No. 2, written by Schumann (can't remember his first name)

I also recommend some of the movements of Mozart's Requiem. My favorite being Lacrimosa.

How about Chopin's "Nocturne in D flat major", or his "Nocturne in C sharp minor", or pretty much most of his nocturnes. Just look up "Nocturne" on Youtube and I'm sure you'll find plenty of performances of various nocturnes. He has composed a good deal of other piano music, in fact piano music is just about all he composed.

Like others have already mentioned, Beethoven's "Moonlight" and "Pathetique" sonatas are passionate, lovely, sad and quite bombastic all at once.

As others have also mentioned, Debussy's "Clair de lune" is quite beautiful, as is his "Arabesque" and "Reverie".

You should try everyone's suggestions out; they're all pretty good.
