09 Trek Madone 5. 2 PRO Bicycle $200 (USD) (no misprint) Anybody interested?

http://www.alibaba.com/catalog/103318446/09_Trek_M...

Price Terms: FOB (Fresh off boat) Soekarno Hatta International USD 200~500

O.K. this one is an obvious scam. Say goodbye to any money sent. There are others, that are a little more subtle. Just thought it should be common knowledge that this sort of thing is going on.

So let's have a bit of fun with this one. It is the season to be jolly.

I'm looking for a laugh, perhaps someone can defend this as a genuine deal. (Remember full Ultegra sl Group and $200)

Please be careful shopping on-line

Update:

To give an idea of how wide spread this scam is in Indonesia.

Spare a thought for the vast majority of Indonesians tryng to earn an honest living.

    Hi

I'm one of Alibaba's forty thieves. We have recently been successful in our long time quest to attain the magic lamp from Aladdin. Since we were tied of riding Horses and Camels through the desert, our first wish was an unending supply of good quality bicycles. We picked Trek. Doesn't everybody? We were debating cars but even the auto industry can't sell them. We would also need to use a second wish for fuel.

As things have turned out we fled Baghdad and were planning to seek asylum in Australia but were stranded in Indonesian because of the mandatory detention laws. The Indonesian road bike Market is now flooded.

We simply must sell the bikes at this price because our warehouses are bursting at the seams. Yes we can sell them at $200 and might even be able to sell them for less once we defeat the packers Union. They don't work as cheap as Genii.

As they say You gain from our Pain.

Sorry I couldn't do any better than a fairy tale. The scary thing is that it is a lot less obvious if they ask realistic prices. Exactly the same add with a couple of extra 0's wouldn't be so obvious.

The only real safe guard is knowing that no respectable dealer insists on receiving money telegraphic transfer or Western Union.

Here is a star Might attract more attention

Hope nobody falls for this sort of thing.

Yes! I looked at one that was on Craigslist.com. This one was a Madone 6.9, complete with photos, all Dura-Ace for $1000. The person actually advertised it from the Cleveland section. I knew it was either the deal of a lifetime or a scam. I e-mailed the poster and got a reply from Romania! Same old same old -- "send money and get the bike" -- yeah, right!

    Merry Christmas!

What they're selling are very very cheap counterfeit copies of the frames, and it's very possible that the components are the same thing. Here's a link to two news articles about the frames (Specialized, but it's happening with several other high end frames, too). I read something about counterfeit components awhile back but can't find a link anywhere. Basically, the fakers have gotten really good at putting on brand labels and trademarks that look indistinguishable from the real thing.....you get a cheap inferior look-alike part that damn sure looks like what it says it is, but isn't.

Allow me to take it to a deeper level, “The subprime mortgage crisis is an ongoing financial crisis triggered by a dramatic rise in mortgage delinquencies and foreclosures in the United States, with major adverse consequences for banks and financial markets around the globe” (From Wikipedia).

If individuals aren’t greedy and self-centred, they wouldn’t be lured by advert like the one shown above. The same pattern can be directed to the subprime mortgage crisis, as people max out their credits and result in bankruptcies. Subsequently, the banks got in trouble and they went bust. So, I’ve no sympathy to these individuals.

Wow! That's a new one. Ranks right up there with the junk Chinese iPod and Wii knockoffs. So bad it's not even funny.

But who's gullible enough to believe this ad? Seriously!

I mean the cost of the raw materials is much higher than the $200-500 US listed.
