Airline tickets don't necessarily increase over time. They flucuate on different days according to the demand. Usually they just increase steadily for the holidays, but that increase sets the price for the new year. If you wanted the best price for your ticket you should have purchased it around August. The worst price is usually about a week before the departure date. Sometimes tickets go alittle lower on Tuesday night/ Wednesday afternoon. However, there is no way to be 100% certain of any changes. I don't understand why you were "not allowed" to get the ticket now. Was the flight fully booked or something? If you were on a discount ticket website you might want to try another one. They are only allowed to sell a certain amount of seat at the price they have. Additionally, you should check on the airlines website. Sometimes the airlines run 24 hour sales that aren't offered on other sites. Whatever you do, you should get the tickets ASAP.
