If I get a new Tivo box, does the service from my old one carry over?

If it is on a service plan other than Product Lifetime, you can simply move it to a retail purchased box (as in not from tivo.com; they require a new activation), on the TiVo website, or by a CSR. There is no cost, nor additional commitment.
A product Lifetime subscription cannot be transferred, at least at this time.

You have to call TiVo and give them the number on the back of the old box that you are no longer using, then give them the number on the new box. I am not sure if you have to pay more or not.
