What do men care about?
This isn't a relationship question, it's one about broader issues in your community. In another of my questions, regarding whether anyone cares about men's issues, one of the answers posed the question of what men actually care about. So lads, what would you like to see change for the better, for men?

We want things to be more equal. If a woman put her hand on my shoulder if I was frustrated or upset, it may be a lawsuit if I did the same.
Feminism need be there, but the scale is really tipping too far in some instances, and not far enough in others.

Women talk in metaphor, while men talk directly, and this in itself is a challenge.

I think we should stop thinking about what men or women care about; and see what individual people care about. It is wrong to generalize a gender and think the majority feels this way. If we look at individuals and realize each person has a right to their beliefs then we can start responding to them on terms that highlight and sharpen their strengths and abilities so our communities are made stronger accordingly.

So what guy is hiding his weight, his age, or if he feels horny. Just ask him he'll tell you. That's what confuses women. They can't believe a person can be that simple. So if want to know a man is thinking. Just ask him. 9 out of 10 times he'll tell you exactly what he wants.

I would like to see *true* equality coming about, for fathers especially but men who are not fathers also.
It was only in 2003 that unmarried fathers gained - thanks to activism from F4J - equal rights (parental rights) to their own children.
I missed that with mine, as they were born in '99 and '01. However, in a 'deal' with my ex - I signed over the house & contents in exchange for a trip to court and her signature on two documents (one for each child).
I'd like to see men who seek custody NOT to be accused by feminist groups as being wife or child beaters, like NOW.org has. I'd like to see fathers who seek custody be given a genuine chance, as oppose a 'lottery' chance. I'd like to see fathers who pick up their kids from school once in a while be treated with respect rather than suspicion. I'd like to see men receive equal funding towards male specific health problems as women do for female specific health problems, which currently is nothing close. I'd like to see dads who are SAHD's be treated with respect instead of contempt and having them referred to as 'babysitters' - no, they're 'fathers' not 'babysitters' (I had this comment made by my ex's health-visitor even though I was the primary carer). I'd like to see a feminist 'study' that does not result in the same, mundane and predictable outcome of 'man bad / woman good' or 'man guilty / woman innocent' and so on. I'd like to see feminists seek *true* equality instead of this bigotted 'selective equality' whereby they seek only equality if benefits women, yet actively promote inequality when it is to the detriment of men.
And much, much more.

I asked my boyfriend and my best friend and neither of them knew what I meant, but both said things like friends, family, their careers, their partners (in one case, that's me, obviously)...

We care about women and children more than ourselves. We care about giving more than receiving. We care about learning and growing. We care about truth and knowledge. We care about love and life.
