Racism vs 'politically right' views: is racism the solution to all our problems these days?

Racism, I feel is a mode of free speech. The First Amendment allows an American citizen the right to express his/her beliefs on any topic without facing any kind of political repercussions.

These days, I see racism getting masked by the media and other sources. The media adopts an apologetic tone to mask the racism in the country which is still very much prevalent. You see less open demonstrations and protests in the media, but I feel censorship is causing our country a lot of problems; and is disuniting our people.

David Duke, ex-member of the KKK was widely recognized in the US as being overly racist. But if you listen to what he says carefully, he says that white Americans with a European heritage should have the right to preserve their heritage; and not necessarily mingle with black Americans. I do not see that as being a really bad thing there, but not a good thing in any sense either. But the way the media portrays him to be today, as being a HATER; I do not think it is a fair assessment. He should be granted that right to express his views without any kind of bias from those reporting it.

I feel censorship goes against our constitution and against our rights as American citizens, and even though racism is an extreme form of freedom of expression; it is better being exercised openly than being masked as it is today.

If someone is being racist, it is NOT wrong as long as they are stopping other people from being racist. Racism exercised in its pure form (without government regulations) does not stopping individualistic rights. The government based and media based racism helps one party/group exercise racism over others, which is unconstitutional (for eg: legalization of alcohol over pot). Everything nationalistic is unconstitutional (as Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin accentuated on individualism), and government regulated racism is as well.

But EVERYONE should have the right to express their racist views.

The US was formed as a republic and not a democracy. We were not meant to accommodate various communities in our country that we are trying to do today.

Racism isn't bad, it is a condition. You would rather be with your family than the people next door. You would rather be with your neighborhood than the neighborhood across town. You would rather be with your town than another town... etc.

Racism use to describe bigots, but now the definition has changed into any people you don't endorse full heartily. The Politically Correct are busy at work trying to draw a distinction to prove they are better than the rest. For them this politically correctness is "morals" since most don't believe in a God. Therefore they place their faith in the morality of political correctness instead of a god. The worship of Political correctness becomes their god and what they worship most.

Update:

Laissez-Faire Guy:

Obama won because the DEMOCRATS focused on the economy. even a white democrat would have won it.

Racism will NEVER be a "solution" to anything. Nor is it "free speech" as you said. Its not even a big deal anymore obviously. Just read some of these questions and answers here at Yahoo. People are dismissing racism as just a comeback that they say someone had because they didn't like their comments. Well if a white person calls Obama a "monkey", is that not racism? Why a monkey? Why not a bird? They come in all colors.

When one thinks of a monkey, they think of a black animal that swings from trees with protruding lips. If any animal they could use for him, it would be a Zebra. Not that I condone anyone being labeled an animal, but I'm just offering an example. Racism was VERY evident in the last election. Anyone that says that it wasn't is lying to themselves. The media was talking about Obama being "black", and the public was too. They dug into his background more than I've ever seen them do to any other candidate. But yet people will try to tell you that "we are all Americans". Well if so, why are they dwelling on that man's color so d@m much? Why keep mentioning his color all the time? Anyone with two eyes can SEE his color! You don't need anyone to tell you. Racism can't be killed. It multiplies with each new generation. Thanks to the generation before them.

First I would disagree with your initial premise that "The media adopts an apologetic tone to mask the racism in the country which is still very much prevalent." The media does no such thing and racism is no longer prevalent in the USA. If it was, a black man would not have won the highest office in the land.

Yes, racists should be free to believe as they do, but that doesn't save them from negative public opinion. Nor should racists be allowed to violate the civil rights of those that would be victimized.

UPDATE: There are numerous reasons why Obama may have won. But you missed the point that Obama won because we are not a nation full of racists. If we were, he wouldn't have even come close.

The solution is a colorblind society based on individualism and merit. A bigger problem than racism is poverty. Martin Luther King wanted equality, not bias. We should abandon special interest groups and political correctness in favor of a truly racist-free society.

I do not condone right-wing hate groups, active KKK membership, the use of the Confederate flag and calls for segregation.

  • Expressing Racism is hateful speech..

That's like saying everyone should be allowed to do what they want to do.. it's there right as a human being.. so they should be able to kill others? NO

Free Speech is fine your allowed to express your views as long as your not hurting anyone on the basis of their genetics something they cannot even control

People should be judged by their character

  • Racism is not a form of free speech so I can't agree on that. Racism consists of more than hateful words, rather it extends to core values and personal beliefs.

However, the term is used to discredit valid arguments and correct observations by those who are incapable of deeper thought.

Do you believe that yelling "Fire!" in a crowded studio resulting in many deaths is freedom of speech? Racism is ignorance. Stop trying to make excuses for it.

Racism isn't bad? WTF are you smoking. So, just because you have a lighter skin tone than me, I can hate you? Its funny how must racist claim to be god fearing christians. Not even your god thinks racism isn't that bad. Jesus said love your brothers and sister, not hate them because of their skin color. I hate a tone of white friends, and I'm REALLY glad that must of the world doesn't share your believes anymore

the races ARE different, its just facts

    for example:

The degree of body odour is dependent on race as it has been found that black individuals have more apocrine glands than other races and a large number of Asians e.g. Koreans and Japanese, have no apocrine glands at all.
