Uncle Pennybags
Middle-aged conservative with libertarian leanings who finds modern liberalism to be incredibly naive and dangerous, I respect old-time liberals who were genuinely interested in keeping this nation strong and helping ALL the people. I'm a staunch defender of Capitalism. Capitalism and rich people do not oppress the rest of us. Far from it, capitalism has brought the highest level of prosperity to those countries that practice it. However I realize that capitalism can be abused and does have it's excesses, and therefore gov't regulation is required, but it should be done sparingly, and only when there is no other alternative. Far from being worried about what the rest of the world thinks of the USA, my opinion is they should worry about what we think of them. Other countries need us as their guardians and market. We do not need them.
If you had a step-parent, was your relationship with them a good one or bad one?
I had two step-parents.
My step-father was an amazing man and I'm thankful for the relationship we formed and the experiences we had and what he taught me to this day.
My step-mother on the other hand, was a terrible step-parent. She made it quite clear early on that she wanted nothing to do with me and when I visited the home she and my father shared, she hid out in her bedroom for almost the entire time.
1 AnswerFamily8 hours agoIf requiring a voter ID is racist, doesn't that make anything requiring an ID racist?
If someone wants to open a bank account and can't because they can't get an ID, isn't that racist?
If someone wants to travel and needs an ID to board the plane, train or bus and they can't get an ID, isn't that racist?
If they want to buy tobacco or alcohol and can't because they can't get an ID, isn't that racist?
I can go on with dozens of more things including exercising other rights like our 2nd Amendment right. Why isn't it racist to require an ID for all these other things???
4 AnswersPolitics9 hours agoIs serving on Navy submarines the hardest job in any of the services?
I mean you are basically crammed with lots of others in a metal tube under the water for months at a time. You never see the sun or get any fresh air during that time. Space is at a premium. Some sailors don't even get their own bunk and have to share. After the first two weeks, no more fresh food. Just canned or frozen food.
I'd likely go stark raving made on my second or third tour.
To those who do serve on a sub, you guys are crazy and tougher than I am!
1 AnswerMilitary17 hours agoSo...what is a good Yahoo Answers alternative?
I've tried Quora. Not really a fan because I don't like the way you have to try and find questions to answer. Seems almost haphazard to me.
YA has it's problems, but here at least you just pull up the category and easily list the most recent Q&A.
3 AnswersPolitics2 days agoDid you know the enlightened legislature and Governor of Iowa just made Constitutional Carry legal?
No permits are now required for law-abiding citizens to carry firearms openly or concealed in the great state of Iowa.
In other good news, March set a new record for gun sales, shattering the old one.
2 AnswersPolitics3 days agoDemocrats seem to be all upset that water can't be handed out to people waiting in line to vote. Does that ever happen?
In over 3 decades of voting I've never once had anyone offer me water while I was waiting to vote.
But in 2024, I'm going to be handing out this bottled water to people in line since Democrats are making such a stink about it!
11 AnswersPolitics4 days agoWas Biden right when he said it was "Neanderthal thinking" to end lockdowns and mask mandates in TX and MS?
Biden said, and Democrats in the media agreed it was "Neanderthal thinking" when the GOP in Texas and Mississippi ended the lockdowns and mask mandates in Texas and Mississippi.
It has now been more than 3 weeks since that happened in Texas and over 4 weeks in Mississippi and COVID cases have not increased in either state.
See the links.
1 AnswerPolitics4 days agoIn the US Army, do you continue to receive periodic combat training even if you have a non-combat MOS?
So let's say a soldier has completed his AIT training and is now a Paralegal in the Army. Will those soldiers still get periodic combat training every now and then? Maybe a field exercise or trip out to the shooting range to practice with the rifle?
3 AnswersMilitary5 days agoIn the US Army, can you switch your MOS after a period of time?
Let's say a soldier picked an indoor MOS like Paralegal and after a year or two wants to do something else. Could that soldier switch to something completely different, like maybe artillery?
5 AnswersMilitary5 days agoIt's now been 3 weeks since Texas ended the lockdowns and mask mandates, and so far we've seen no increase in new COVID cases?
Do you think maybe the Democrats and COVID alarmists in the media were wrong to say that Texas was re-opening too soon?
12 AnswersPolitics7 days agoWhy is NYC having a rash of hate crimes against Asian-Americans lately?
4 in the last week.
And before you cry out "White Supremacy" know that 3 of the 4 hate crimes were perpetrated by African-Americans, and the 4th is unknown because the person was so well masked and covered up.
1. A big black guy kicked an elderly Asian woman in the chest and knocked her down on the sidewalk and then kicked and stomped on her several times.
2. A black guy beat the crap out of an Asian guy on the subway, then choked him into unconsciousness.
3. A black guy just walloped an elderly Asian guy on the head on the subway for no reason.
4. Some unidentified guy whipped out his penis and peed on an Asian woman on the subway.
According to reports, nobody around helped in any of these incidents.
Videos of the first 2 are out there any they are brutal.
11 AnswersPolitics7 days agoIf Dems succeed in taking away our guns and defunding the police, can we say "When seconds count, a social worker is only minutes away"?
Dems, don't deny it. Democrats are now on the record as wanting to take away some of our guns and defund the police.
