It's now been 3 weeks since Texas ended the lockdowns and mask mandates, and so far we've seen no increase in new COVID cases?

Do you think maybe the Democrats and COVID alarmists in the media were wrong to say that Texas was re-opening too soon?

@? - The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are 95% and 90% effective.  So even a few fully vaccinated people will still catch COVID.

Lying POS!  You say "no increase in new COVID cases"??  How are THOUSANDS of new cases reported EVERY DAY somehow escaping your attention? March 31 had over 4,100 new cases. How is that "no increase"??

The 7-day average as of April 1 is 3,667 new cases, which is admittedly down from 20,481 cases per day on Feb 1, but still ridiculously high.

Two facts from someone who actually lives in Texas. First there has been a slight flattening of the curve in Texas but more importantly most businesses like banks, groceries, doctor's offices and groceries still require masks. Schools do also. There has not been a wholesale dropping of mask use in Texas. We are not that dumb.

    .

As for Texas being second in cases or deaths you have to remember, Texas has the second largest population in the US and we are getting lots of infected immigrants from south of the border.

Texas is 2nd in COVID-19 infections and 3rd in deaths. Only a brainwashed right-wing moron like yourself would be bragging about how well Abbott has handled this mess.

That's true that after being vaccinated people can still get the virus. But the clincher is that they will not end up going to the hospital even with just one shot and even more importantly, they won't have to worry about dying from it. But Texas is still in the grips of the pandemic and people here are still getting sick and will until enough Texans get the shots. Our governor is a died in the wool conservative and still a Trump supporter and as such, doesn't necessarily care for President Biden's mandates on the pandemic.

Abbott rolled the dice by lifting the lockdowns as a distraction from the winter storm disaster and it's going to work out for him.

Texan here. I think it's too early to tell. The incubation period for Covid is around 14 days, so if there is a surge in cases it won't be reflected in the data until next week after the reporting comes out. But I also think some of this would be offset by the vaccine rollout.

The cat's out of the bag when it comes to coronavirus in the US. At this point it's best to let it run its course.

Texas is doing only as well as New York, but 9 of the top 10 states where Covid rates are highest are Red states.

The lower cases in Texas are due to white privilege ... or something like that.
