What Was Your Favorite Gift That You Had Given This Year?

Question

Instead of telling me what the best thing you received was, how about telling me what you were most excited to give to somebody this year and why it was so special?

For me I was very excited about giving my boyfriend a watch that did not have the traditional 1-12 hour markers on the face.  Instead the hours were marked as mathematical equations where the answer was the hour.  He's a high school math teacher so it was not only unique but personal.

How cool!  I am curious how you found such a unique gift ....

Well, the gift that I gave this year that was my favorite was to my Mom.  She is 71, and still takes care of all us kids, grandkids and great grandkids (we range in age from 50 to 2!).  And we are pretty spread out, geographically.  In spite of this, she will get in her car and travel to where we all live to help us when in need.  Right now, she is planning a trip to my youngest brothers to help him with his family (he is a single dad).  Once there, she will maintain his household, do all the laundry, housecleaning, cooking, coordinate necessary maintenance, etc.  My brother lives in Houston -- my other brother who she also helps lives in Wisconsin -- and sometimes she has a hard time getting around the large cities and finding grocery stores, gas stations, handymen, etc.  Well, for Christmas this year I got her a Garmin GPS.  I also got her a digital camera to bring her into the 21st century.  She has been using those disposable things for years.  I got her a new PC about 6 years ago and she can download info to the GPS and download picutes from the digital camera.

Can I just brag a little and say that she LOVED both gifts!!!!  Made my day.  It is so gratifying to give a gift that is needed and appreciated.

Every year, my family dose the "Adopt-A-Child" from our church. 
This year we bought for a 5 year old little girl and 7 month old baby girl. 
This is one of my favorite parts of Christmas. 
Even though I don't get to see there faces, I know they'll be appreciative.

yes, personalized gifts are the best. my husband likes football very much and I gave him a personalized calendar with his favourite football team. and his name was printed in floodlights at the stadium of his favourite football team. actually, I got this idea at http://www.newyeargift.org/perfect-new-year-gifts-for-men-sporting-gifts.html
I thought it would be a good gift and I was right :)
