Does any body now a bit on Liable and law?
A few years ago i had some body accusing me of quite a serious crime that i was not even involved in because of jealousy. Although i ignored it.
The problem being the person in question has now recently written all over my facebook pages that i am guilty. I have reported the incident to Facebook, and also kept a record of the posts. I am considering sueing him for liable, is this possible? Thanks

It depends how deep your pockets are as suing somebody for libel can be very expensive and you won't get any financial help. Your best course of action is to report this person to the Police for harassment. They will take it very seriously I can assure you especially if it has appeared on a website. They will caution the person and if he persists they will arrest and charge them. Keep everything as evidence and don't remove it from your pc.

I have won a libel case, but it was not easy. You have to get a solicitor (assuming you are in the UK) and there is no legal aid for libel cases. You also have to prove that the libel has caused you damage - either financial or social. Finally you have to prove that you were innocent of the charge. In my case it was a newspaper article, and the newspaper paid all my costs, and paid a large sum of money to a nominated charity in lieu of damages, and also printed an apology on its front page. Think carefully before you act. It is expensive.

You can sue anyone if you have lots of money. Think of the law as a financial bludgeon and you'll pretty much have the idea -- if you're richer than they are, and are willing to spend the money, you'll probably get what you want.

Well it would have to be proved that you were identified in real life.
That a wide audience saw the accusations.
and that you suffered damage.
You would also have to find the person.
However libel laws do cover the net in the UK.
Lis is not 100% right.
You dont have to prove your innocence, they have to prove your guilt.

Oh absolutely. But make sure you get a good lawyer.
