Honda TRX500 rear drum brake replacement help?

I need some help from someone with my TRX 500. It has a drum brake on the rear and I am trying to replace the shoes. I have been able to tear it down to the drum, but I can't get the drum off or loose. Does anyone know how the drum is supposed to come off. Is there a way that I am supposed to release the brake shoes or back them out or whatever to get the drum off. I would assume the drum should just pull off with a little work. Any details on how I can resolve this would be very very much appreciated.

Update:

So let me get a little more in detail...The brake cables are all disconnected at the drum

first, lets release the parking brake

then back off the slack adjuster

    tap with hammer if necessary

Feeling, opportunities are high surprisingly not likely that a Ranger with merely 32,000 miles could want a pad and drum alternative. Did you bypass to the Firestone broking on my own? they have tried the comparable component on my daughter. Do you have a boyfriend/father/husband which could examine your rear brakes for you. Are you having hassle battling, does the automobile pull to a minimum of one component once you quit, or do you hear any noise while attempting to quit? in case you responded no to any of those questions, i think of they have been merely attempting to get extra funds out of you. wish this helps. solid luck!
