  • Alimony for spouse in california?

Well, It happened to me. But it's is all good. My wife and I are getting a divorce and want to try to settle things on our own with out all the lawyers eating up our money. I know we can do it and its working well for both of us. I do think with my financial situation and hers that I should pay her some alimony. Does anyone or can anyone speak from experience what the time frame for alimony is. The marriage is approx. 25 years, I know sad to say, but this is reality. We are both in our late 40's. Should it be 50/50 on the money and bills? and then for alimony what would be fair for the years? I was told that half the years we where married, but then again is there really a standard. If so can someone just tell me what they had to do. This is California now, so take that into consideration. She makes about 1500 less a month than I do. I know there are a lot of things to consider but be general please

Don't tell me to get a lawyer....

  • Cushman hit and miss 4hp engine question 1920's I think?

I have been restoring a what I believe is a 1920's vintage hit and miss engine made by Cushman. It has the tag on the side of it, and I'm trying to start it. I have the crank, it turns over, but won't fire. I believe I have a spark issue.

My question is the spark I am getting....seems well, weak. What would I expect to see as a spark.

    Big blue spark?

Should I be able to "hear" the spark when the plug is removed and touching the chasiss. In other

words when it fires should I hear the spark make a "pop" for a lack of words. I'm getting spark, I

have fuel. I'm pretty certain timing is correct.

Just not sure. I'm pretty good at engines, just a bit stumped on this antique unit.

Thanks you guys. I'm looking forward to getting this running and entering into our next years fair.

  • Which is a better choice for max thrust on a RC rocket, YES rocket?

I'm Gonna build a RC controlled rocket believe it or not, but I need to know which type of electric motor will give me the best thrust to weight ratio. I plan on trying to get this thing to fly upwards of 10k feet. I've got the plan, I've figured out how to keep it straight, and have it deploy a parachute, even figured out how to make it automatically shut the motor off when it reaches it's max altitude. I just need someone with some knowledge on different types of electric RC motors that can give me some advice

  • Ms. Pacman full size midway game question, is in "free play" mode?

My neighbor gave me his full size Ms. Pacman game that works great, but it is in a mode called "free play" and it depicts this on the CRT.

I was told by him, that the dip switches located on the PC board in the back put it in this mode. Can some one tell me which dip switch it is. Also he has put it in a "turbo" mode and the Ms Pacman herself moves very fast compared to original. I assume this is one of the dip switches as well. Can anyone tell me what the 7 or 8 dip switches do. Or at least tell me how to take it out of free play and turbo mode.

  • 1987 Toyota Corolla "NO" failure in smog check. Need help. Possible EGR valve?

Hey guys...I need abit of help with someone who knows a bit about a 1987 corolla. It didn't pass smog and came back as a "no" failure. The guy said it was called a knox failure. I have the report and all else passed with flying colors except this. Im not a mechanic but know a bit about cars. Can 1 of you guys or gals help me with possible problems. Im being told it might be a EGR valve issue. does this pass the logic test for you guys.

Im also being told this vehicle doesn't have a EGR valve???????

If it does, where the heck is it located. It seems the easiest to replace. Car runs great, no blue smoke on start up ...just "no" failure..

    thanks for any help

  • Suba license lost and need replacement?

I got my scuba license many many years ago when I was 13. Im now 45. I've been diving since, but lost my license many years ago. I currently let my buddy rent my gear under his license.

I've tried to find a duplicate or research how I can get it replaced without retaking the whole course. Anyone have a link or know how I can get this done.

I know the name of the instructor and the business, but they have gone out of business.

There has to be a record of my license somewhere I can get it replaced.

    Thanks

  • 98 Toyota 4 Runner question about rear differential?

I just had the rear 3rd member rebuilt on her truck. The right side/pass axle was slightly chewed up about 1/8 inch on the splines on the axle. The shop said it was fine and they put it on a wire wheel and tested it to make sure the splines where good. I installed the 3rd member and inserted the left axle and all went very well and back together. The right axle went in perfectly but stopped short about 1/8 inch from total insertion like the left did. My question is, do I just try to tighten it up and suck up the gap or should it with no doubt slide straight in. I , for a test took the left axle and inserted it into the right side knowing full well everything would be 180 out but wanted to see if by chance the chewed up splines may be in fact a issue. The left one did the same thing. Went straight in, I feel it mesh and it too stopped about 1/8 inch from being all the way in. I tried the right on the left, and it slid right in. So my theory was right. But what could be causing the axle not to go all the way in? It acts like the axle is just a bit to long

  • 98 Toyota 4 Runner Question about rear end?

My daughter has a 98 4 runner limited. She was driving it and it just all of a sudden made a loud clunk/bang and stopped moving. I took a look at it and found that the drive shaft was turning but the truck wouldn't move. I also found that I could put it in 4 wheel high and it would drive via front end. Is there a mechanism that would prevent the rear differential from engaging in these trucks like a solenoid or ?

Is there a way to determine if the rear end is blown easily. It had not been making any noise previous to this. It has always ran like a top. It almost acts like the rear end is stuck out of gear and the 4 wheel drive shift lever is in neutral.

Im pretty mechanical with stuff and would like to take a stab at it before I run to the dealer

Any help would be very very much appreciated

  • In home Buss. in Calif with daughter as part helper. Tax question?

My wife runs a small child care in our house. I was told that we could use my daughter as a part time employee and she would not have to file taxes if she made less than 5K for the year. My goal is to lower my wife's total income from the buss so we don't have to pay taxes. We got nailed last year and would like to know if this is possible, beneficial, or should I stay away. My tax guy seems to be pretty savvy, but does me no favors. Im looking for a loop hole if this is one.

Thanks any suggestions would be great guys

  • New foam roof on building generating static electricity?

I work in the radio Business and one of my customers had a new foam roof put over there existing metal roof.

Now for some reason I am getting lots of static electricity from the roof. I know this because it is discharging into the radio tower very near (10 inches) the building.

The foam roof was just installed and we live in Calif, very dry time of year, low humidity, breezy now.

Has anyone heard this issue before. I believe its being developed from the white plastic type over coating the put on top.

    Any suggestions?

I have a mic circuit and I'm being told to put a 4.7uf cap in series with a 47k ohm resistor and install this in series with the mic circuit. My question is, what effect will this have on the voice. Will it roll the voice off? Roll off the highs, or lows?

  • Honda 2002 TRX500 Rubicon...Missing VIN number...Need help?

My brother was given a 2002 Rubicon and he gave it to me. It was a theft recovery. Now I have it up and running and I want to get it registered in my name. I have the Clymers manual for it and it states were the VIN is supposed to be. It looks like the sticker is missing though. It shows that it should be up on the front under the radiator on the front frame I have found a engraved serial number on the frame near there, but I believe the VIN sticker is gone.

Anyone have a idea of how I go about getting a new one? or what is my next step here.

  • Honda TRX500 rear drum brake replacement help?

I need some help from someone with my TRX 500. It has a drum brake on the rear and I am trying to replace the shoes. I have been able to tear it down to the drum, but I can't get the drum off or loose. Does anyone know how the drum is supposed to come off. Is there a way that I am supposed to release the brake shoes or back them out or whatever to get the drum off. I would assume the drum should just pull off with a little work. Any details on how I can resolve this would be very very much appreciated.
