Because figure skating IS harder then hockey, i put hockey skates on and they are so effing easy!! my friends play hockey, and they taught me how. took me about an hour to really know about hockey and how to play.

can hockey players do an axel or a double axel? i dont think so

ALL ice sports are HARD.

Hockey has it's own pros and cons. Figure Skating also has its own pros and cons.

Saying that "figure skaters are better then hockey players" is so subjective, it's not even funny.

Those are opinions and generalizations that people who are ignorant of each other make. They are arguments made by weak people.

Of course everyone is going to like the sport they or good at, or the sport they play better than the other one, that's a simple fact of life.

Have you seen a hockey player land a triple axel during a game? No. But have you seen a figure skater slam a small puck into a net from halfway across the rink with about six other skaters in their way, ready to slam into them? No.

There's differences in the sports, and, unfortunately, as they do with most things in society today, people get a mix of immense pride and a swollen head and hauntingly severe ignorance, so they bash the other sport.

Neither one is better than the other.

It is different for everyone. For some, being graceful while lifting 3 times your own body weight in the air is harder than skating around aggresive people along with a tiny puck, while sometimes it is the other way around. At my ice arena, the hockey players are very immature and throw candy on the ice to make us trip and call us names. I think that people need to stop fighting over this and admit that all ice sports are difficult and take a lot of practice. I think that the only reason people are arguing is because they don't understand the opposite sport. And this, to everyone is coming from a figure skater.

I think if figure skaters tried hockey, they'd feel that it is just as hard as skating. No toepicks is one thing that's different, but pushing a puck around and with 2903 other guys out there charging at you...

Hockey is difficult and special in its own and different way than figure skating. I don't know why people think this is better or that's better, because every sport is difficult and that's why different people are involved in different sports.. everyone has different talents.

Those groups on facebook should just be ignored. :/

at my rink it is always a battle for ice time between hockey and figure skating! Figure skaters hardly get any ice time and I think they are charging us to much for the time that we get! But I am a figure skater and even though I am unhappy about our ice time i am not mean and snotty to the hockey people. in fact, there are quite a few figure skaters that are also in hockey! At any other arena i wouldn't know why there mean to hockey because they wouldn't really have a reason to be mean to the hockey players. idk what it is like at the other arenas so yeah idk but it doesn't seem like that have a reason to be snotty to you if your were just friendly to them.

if u r actually doing figure skating as a sport, it is actually harder because of different spins and jumps...some of my friends are hockey players, n they say that if they try figure skating, theyd die... if youre skatin just for fun, than its really your opinion-im a figure skater, but i think hockey skates r harder to skate in -but its fun to try...

i agree with heidi. both sports are hard in their own way. figure skating is hard coz you have to keep the proper position, proper edge, land the jumps, center your spins, etc. hockey is hard esp since you're trying to score goals with other players trying their darn best to stop you. no toe picks, that's also a good point. toe picks are also hard to manage, you know..

are you sure those groups dont start because of the cockyness of hockey players. and not the bitchyness of figure skaters?

both sports are equally difficult if you compare them at equal levels- you can say that you learned to play hockey in an hour, i can say I learned to spin in a circle in 10 minutes- it doesn't mean I can do it well. both sports take years to master at their highest levels. while i would be surprised if a hockey player could do a double axel, I would be equally surprised if a figure skater could execute a hip check that put the attacker on the ice. the sports are different, and hard in different ways.

as for the difference in facebook groups, I would say it is because the figure skaters are the minority. In my twelve years of hockey at two rinks, I can safely say that there are many more hockey players than figure skaters. further, hockey players do pay less for ice time, as there are 30 people paying as opposed to five or whatever. so I guess that the figure skaters feel cornered, and their facebook groups are a response to that.

because people think just because they know how to play hockey, there experts on the subject. if they actually tried to play hockey, theyd ***** and complain.
