anybody ever try that magicjack?

I tried it and it worked fine for about 2 weeks..I ended up taking it back. Anybody else have problems with it?

Update:

It worked great for the 2 weeks then the phone didn't ring for incoming calls, it would pop up an error message. If the phone did ring, it would only ring once and then the call would disconnect.

They give you the impression that since a user has DSL, for example that you can just pick up the phone and dial away. Wrong!! You must have a constant connection of course, your computer on 24/7, But, you must also sign on to your user account and then click on the magicjack icon which will tell you when its ready to use. People post and don't tell you that stuff. Its good if your relatives, friends are scattered across the country, world, etc., and you can put up with the inconveniences of it. Like if your working on something it will come to a halt if a call comes in and if you sign on your user account you will get an annoying 2 minutes or so of advertising from magicjack in the middle of your screen. For a daily phone service, NO, if your strapped for cash, in college, relatives all over the place, then YES its good. Don't rely on it for 911 service.

A friend of mine had it and said it was absolutely terrible and never worked for her. She's the only person I know that has used it, but I wouldn't let one bad review influence your decision. I'd suggest looking up reviews for it through google too and find out what the majority of people have to say about it.

Really? All of mine work great. My brother lives in Hong Kong and uses it. The rest of my family is all over the country, and my wife's are all over seas. I gave them out this year and everyone loves it (they were on sale for $29.99 during black friday). My wife and I will save close to about $1000 in 2009 on phone bills. I guess the only drawback is you need to have high speed internet for it to work well!

I actually use it for my buisness line... only gripes i have with it is that my computer needs to be left on 24/7 for it to work, and sometimes it takes several seconds until i get a dial tone (as the program opens)
