How can you tell if your hamster is pregnant?

Or rather, when do you start to see the signs? How long into pregnancy?

When the female hamster is pregnant, she will start to build a nest and during the last two days, she will gain weight in her stomach area which will become very noticeable. The gestation period for Syrian Hamsters is 16 days. Dwarf Russian Hamsters, Campbell’s and Chinese Hamsters is 18 – 21 days while for the Roborovski Hamsters 23 – 30 days.

Hamsters are only pregnant for 16 days. She'll give birth at night, in her bed where she normally sleeps, she might make a nest but it depends on the hamster, she'll use the bedding later if she doesn't use it now, she may even make a nest the night before. Feed her extra protein like nuts and cheese in small amounts of course. Baby hamsters are only about an inch long when they are born, they'll be in the nest for the first two weeks. Don't touch the babies or nest until they are two weeks or crawling about the cage...its ok to take mom out to play after 5 days.
