R&P: All music fans should read, R&P regulars, and anyone who stumbles upon this question...?
I had a hard time this weekend as some of you already know. My uncle who I had problems with in the past, came over for Christmas. It was hard to swallow (knowing he would be in my house again). I won't go into detail, and I will make this as short as possible.
My main point is, I had a good 4 days where I felt like cr@p. Usually it lasts longer, but once you read the rest...you will see why it didn't last long. As some of you know, I used to cut (it's been a month maybe since I've stopped). Anyway, because of MUSIC, I did not cut. I also found that the past few days were really hard, but because of MUSIC...I came out on top WITH A SMILE! I am finding myself in a good mood. I got over that mountain (so-to-speak), just by listening to my favorite bands. Mostly Red (by the way). They really helped me stay strong. I didn't think it was possible for me to like them anymore then I already do, but I do! lol You don't have to go look them up or anything, that isn't my point. My point is Music helped me in a big way. It's pretty cool :) by the way, this isn't the first time something like this happened (music helping me). It does feel different though. Not depressing and tense like the other times. I feel somehow stronger.
I felt the need to let you all know how great music is :)
(I'm sure most of you know that already though).
Thanks to anyone who read the whole thing.
BQ: What bands would you thank for helping you through tough times?
My BQ is obviously Red. Also, Three Days Grace, 30 Seconds to Mars, Foo Fighters and I can't forget The Killers :)
Wow I didn't expect this many answers!! Thank you all soooo sooo much!!! I really appreciate the encouraging words. It does help. This is going to be hard, picking a BA that is!!! well...here i go lmao

thanks for sharing brother, I'm very impressed by your clarity and while there will be rough days ahead, remember this strength and i hope it carries you to whole new heights in your life.I might caution you about looking for affirmation round these parts..
I've been through some grarly, heinous and otherwise crippling grief issues and if I share a little 'bout em I get the feeling that people don't know how to deal, but its like that in real life too, as you find there are people like me, and others who get it and want to see you do well in your endeavors
again I'm really impressed by your strength and you have all my best wishes for your future, FEEL THE REAL
all the best,

I don't know how I miss this question. But glad I found it. You seem to be a very strong person today and level headed. And turnig to music is the best thing you could have ever done. You will find music is the one true friend that will never turn it's back to you. I know I've been around for a long time, and the one thing in my life that is real and true to me is my music. It's been there through bad and goodtimes alike. I could go into hundreds of reasons why music is important, but this is your moment, and I for one can say I'me very proud of you that you reached out to share, because by your sharing, it just may help someone else down the road.
Bands that brought me through some hard time, and some were very hard. Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Blind Faith, almost all the blues.
take care

I read the whole thing and I am so glad I did. I have been suicidal many times and music has always helped me through. This month has been really bad for me as I've been desperately depressed. But things are finally looking up.
Music speaks to us like nothing else can. Many of the musicians out there have been in the same place we are and can express it.
BQ: Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Grand Funk Railroad, Chevelle, Rage Against the Machine, The Cult, Apocalyptica, Shinedown, (and many more that I can't think of right now - it's early). "Numb" and a few other songs by Linkin Park helped me through my divorce.
can't you see that you're smothering me
holding too tightly
afraid to lose control
cause everything that you thought i would be
has fallen apart right in front of you

I am really happy for you. Music has been what gets me through life's difficulties.
When I lost my mom in 2005, I turned to music to keep me sane. Same thing when my dad died in 2007. Music can sometimes express what I am thinking or feeling without me having to say anything at all.
BA: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Kinks, Rolling Stones, Serenity, Dream Theater and a lot more

That's amazing, It's true that music makes you stronger!
I'm really glad that you stopped cutting, it's a really bad habit, I'm glad you're over your problems, I know it might not be over, but hey, everything has a start =)
Also, when I get really upset, I just turn up the volume of my music and either sing with it till I get a grip or think about my problems and try to stick the pieces together and find a solution!!
Ok, I'll tell you something funny, I also hate my uncle (my father's side)ok? lol and in the family gatherings that I just hate so much that I'd rather poke my eye with a pin a thousand time than attend, lmao, anyways, I used to be so defensive and I never let anyone to say a word against me, lol, now it's like who gives a flying **** eh? seriously, lol XD
BA: "Cradle of filth", "In Flames", "Moonspell", "Isis" (it makes me think!), "Savatage" and I hate to admit it but "HIM" also made me get some sadness out of my body, lol!!

Its funny because if there was no music I would be an Emotional Mess.BTW Dont cut yourself, there are many other ways to get rid of depression, and anger. One of my friends used to cut himself and now he regrets it because he has a scar.
