where do you find the serial number to a Quantaray 70-300mm lens For Canon?

I am trying to find the serial number to keep a record in case it gets stolen. the lens is a quantaray 70-300 lens with a 180-300 macro. there is a number on the opposite side of the lens from the macro switch but i am not sure if thats the right number. Any advice?

Update:

I also have a Quantaray 2X DG teleconverter for canon, if you know where to locate the serial number on it I would appreciate it :D

    A number--with a lot of digits, that is most likely the serial number.
