I've got a faulty ps3 60gb, what are my options?
I have a 18 month old ps3 that for the last while has been reading as corrupted (blue screen and when i press x to fix it, it fixes for about a second then the blue screen comes back). Is there anything that i can do about it? I know that they have been discontinued. Would it be worth phoning Sony, i have heard that they will either replace it with a refurbished 60gb or 40gb but i have ps1 and 2 games?
Otherwise would it be worth while to sell it on ebay as faulty? I see that they are going for about £150. I spent £300 on it and i don't what it to go to waste!
I think i would just get a ps2, is there any thing on the pipe line that games are to be stopped being made for the ps2 like the ps1 that is the only reason i sold my ps1 and got a ps3 as i wasn't to fussed with the quality etc. though it was a plus. If the ps3 wasn't coming out at the time i would have been happy with the ps2, i only have 1 ps3 game and the rest are ps2 and ps1. I am disappointed that the ps3 hasn't lasted longer!!!! its so annoying.
Sorry about the length and thanks in advance.
Thanks i have tried to reset it and it worked for about half a minute then i got the corrupt message again. I'm going to trying giving sony a call tomorrow.

if it is corrupted then it may be worth sticking a new hard-drive into it they can be had for £25-30-you will know if it is the hard-drive by removing this and powering up the ps3-if it comes on normally (although it will state on screen that no hard disc is present) then you know it's the HDD at fault although you will not obviously be able to store game info you can still use it as a blu-ray player.
you will have lost all of your info and game saves but it beats the hell out of forking out for a new console-sony can advise you better on this.
alternatively press the power button for 10 seconds or so and see if the unit will revert back to default (factory settings).

Phone sony first they might give you a new one, even though you can't play ps1/2 games on the newer ones.
Then sell it on ebay if sony don't help :)

Dont choose for the 60gb, I had one for 2years and it finally died on me 3months in the past. The 60gbs are defective, choose for the slender. The slender is a lot extra quiet and makes use of much less capacity. that's a significant plus for you.
