how to do music chords?

i have goten rockband for christmas but i cant seem to do many chords on it :s

    You can't press down a few colored buttons on a plastic guitar at the correct time? Oh Lord, no wonder music is going steadily downhill...

    properly i'm a flute/clarinet participant so i don't understand a good purchase approximately chords, as i think they're performed on guitar...yet i think of a chord inclusive of G is a chain of self sustaining notes performed concurrently. Calmer song has a tendency to have a slower pace and there is not a particular observe or chord for calm or speedy song, to the quantity of my understanding. Calm and speedy song are performed at distinctive (slower and speedier) tempos.
