Good Ideas for New Years Dinner?

I am looking to cook dinner for about 8 people total - one who is allergic to seeds (so cant use corn or whole chilies or nuts) and something to please everyone. I have a 6 qt crock pot I got for Christmas from my parents and I would ideally like to use it though all suggestions are welcome. Im just stumped....

Ideas??

I like to make a roast beef sandwich in my crock pot- I add beef broth, chuck roast, garlic, bay leaf, italian seasoning, and pepper- you could also add the juice of the peppercinni. Another great crockpot idea is chicken tacos- my sister just cooks up some chicken with the taco seasoning and adds it to the crock pot with some broth- lets it sit all day- so good.,

    Look up "Good Luck Dinner".

It is supposed to bring you prosperity in the New Year, and is Hog Jaws, Collard Greens, Black-Eyed Pes, Corn Bread, etc. This is a Southern thing, so if you have never had it, then no worries, used substiutes...

Like: Ham, Green Beans, Peas, Corn Bread is still good -- but rolls will do.

If you do make Collard Greens, add a touch of Vinegar, and a pinch or 2 of sugar. I thought my Ex's family was crazy when they served me this, but it was a great meal.

If all else fails, I'm sure KFC will be open...

Best Wishes, and Happy New Year!!!

Put in a chopped yellow onion, a couple of tablespoons of garlic (the stuff in the jar with olive oil), two cans of chopped tomatoes if you can't have one of those cans being the Ro-Tel Tomatoes with Green Chiles, some chopped ham steaks, some chicken broth and a bag of frozen black-eye or purple hull peas. You can enhance this with chili powder and paprika. This is typical "good luck" for the New Year.

Make a big bowl of some kind of cabbage... cole slaw is good. This is for prosperity in the New Year.

Make some cornbread pancakes... great with the blackeyed peas.
