You're starting a jewellery business, but you don't know what products you'll be selling? I think the first rule of starting a small business is to target a market that isn't already swamped by a squillion other people (ebay, etsy, etc).

But if you like making jewellery, then make what you already know how to, and sell them at local markets, online, etc. When your business expands, when you start making money, then you can invest in magazines that teach you different techniques, or you can buy them when you have some spare cash from other sources.

No site will give you free magazines that are worthwhile, in my opinion. You can get basic instructions from a million different sites (do a search for 'free beading pattern', for example) but if you want to be serious and make original jewellery to build up a self-sufficient business, you will need to pay for the patterns (check for copyright restrictions) or make them up yourself.

I sincerely hope you're not opening a store yet. The legwork has to be done to get your suppliers first, and they do nothing for free. It's a business, not a donation to charity.

The wholesale section on eBay can have good deals, but you'll be buying in bulk. You'll need a storage area at your end to hold the items. You'll also need a credit card account in the business name, as well as a bank account in the business name, to keep it separate from your personal accounts.

I really recommend getting a subscription to Entrepreneur Magazine and Inc. Magazine, as these two are immensly helpful for the first time business owner. Locating and talking with your local SBA (small business association) in your city (they do free consults) is an important step too. As is contacting the local SCORE office. They should be online or in your local phone book in the white pages.
