Yes you can do it. You can do it if you have any kind of email ID. But first you need to know what kind of Carrier the receiver has. For example if you friend has T-mobile and his/her number is (123)-456-7890 than all you have to is creat a normal e-mail and send it to 1234567890@tmomail.net .
