Who wants to help me choose a country to go to (foreign exchange program through a rotary) for 10 months :D?
Here are the countries to choose from. Keep in mind, english-speaking countries will be hard to get, noting there may be 60 others in the program, and like 3-4 slots available per country. Obviously, most people are going to be aiming for an english-speaking country.
-Australia
-England
-Ireland
-Germany
-The Netherlands
-New Zealand
Now, here are some things about me, that will hopefully help determine where YOU think I'll fit best in.
- I'm gay, age 15. So, I'd like a country where homosexuality is accepted and.. well, I know that it's never common, but, I don't know, somewhere that has other homosexual teens.
- I'm looking for a place that has nice people that don't totally hate americans. Like, whenever we get a foreign exchange student, people are usually all over them. I wouldn't care if it went that far, persay, but I'm looking for a country where I won't be completely rejected by schoolmates just because I'm american.
- I know English fluently, and I've been taking 4 years of the German language, so I know a lot of German.
- Kind of connected to the above statement, but, if the country wasn't an english-speaking country, I would enjoy being able to speak to schoolmates in english. I've heard that if I went to one of the non-english-speaking countries, that I would still be able to speak english with schoolmates, because apparently they learn English in school as a mandatory course.
- Lastly, I would be going from August '09 to June '10. Which means, if New Zealand or Australia were chosen.. I don't really know how I would do a schoolyear there. Anyone know how that would work? This bullet doesn't really effect anything. I'd just like to know your opinions on this ^^
Thanks for all answers!

english education is well respected throughout the world and you can try a uniform and make good friends :)
Australia would also be a possibility if you dont mind the smell of ozzie BO and huge insects all over the place.
New Zealand is not very interesting, germany has dismal attractions and I have found the people unfriendly, ireland is dull and doesnt hold many fascinating sites same with Netherland.

Personally, I would love to go to somewhere like Thailand, Japan or China. I've been to Thailand and China before, and loved it there, and I LOVE Japanese culture. But obviously, I'm not you xP
Saying that, when I was in Thailand, it's was very easy talking to people in English, as most people there can speak it. And I know that that's the same with Japan.
If I were you, I would choose Japan, it's a really interesting place with loads culture and history, if you want me to tell you more about it, E-mail me ;PP I can go on forever about it, I'm that obsessed. ;))
Anyway, hope I helped. And good luck on choosing a place~ ^___^

Japan would've been a good answer, because they LOVE Americans there. They're so fascinated by them for some reason. Except, since that's not on the list, you should definitely go to Germany since you've been taking the language for four years now. :)
