Advice on moving with my dog?
Hello!
I have dog that is just over a year old, and am moving in a few days. It is just down the street from where I am now, so there is no real legal changes (with licences and the likes). My question is what can I do to help my dog adjust to living in the new house, and how can I make moving less traumatic on her?

well every time you go to move stuff over there bring her with you so she is used to it. if it is down the street she should be fine after she gets used to the house. remember to keep her on her normal schedule that should help. good luck

What I would do is when the movers (or whoever is helping you move) arrive, put her in her kennel (if she has one) and put the kennel in an empty room. If she doesn't have a kennel just put her in an empty room. This way she won't have to be around all the commotion when you are loading everything up. When everything is ready to go take her in your car with you to the new house. Let her smell around for a few minutes and then put her in her kennel in an empty room (or just her if she doesn't have one). When all your things are in the house and most of the people are gone (because you don't want her to get to excited and anxious - that's why you wait) let her out and let her investigate the house. Hopefully this house has a fenced in yard, but if it doesn't make sure you either watch her very close when she is outside or take her out on a leash for the first couple weeks because she will not understand that this is her home now and she will wander back to your old house, especially since it is so close.
ADD: It will also help her tremendously to keep her schedule the same.

She will be fine as all she wants is to be with you just be careful when you let her out when not on a lead that she does not go back to the old house, however after a while she will get used to the fact this is her new home and there will not be problems.

if you have the option; leave the dog with a friend or family while the move is being made. Your dog may take a little time to adjust to your new home but he/she will adjust. Just give her time to move around and smell the place on his/her own when you first move in.

I would walk her over to the new place everyday even if it's just to play for a few minutes. She will get used to the new smells and maybe meet some new buddies!
